Mtsd says "NO" on a 4.98% Tax increase!

Thanks to few board members, such as Joanna Filak and Ania Wolecka-Jernigan, who held strong during the vote, the MTSD BOE voted for a conservative budget for the 2025–2026 school year. In a successful vote that reflected growing calls for fiscal responsibility, the district prioritized limiting tax increases and tightening operational costs. Supporters of the budget say it reflects the town’s values by promoting efficiency and keeping property taxes stable for residents. However, critics argue that the budget may lead to increased class sizes, fewer extracurricular opportunities, and delays in necessary facility maintenance.
